We Believe

We believe that the Holy Bible, as originally written, was verbally inspired and the product of Spirit-controlled men and therefore has truth without any admixture of error for its matter.

This is the first of the “Statements of Faith” of Faith Independent Baptist Church.  This statement declares our belief in the inerrancy, infallibility and divine inspiration of the Bible.  The Apostle Paul wrote in II Timothy 3:16 & 17, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the Man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”  The Apostle Peter wrote in II Peter 1:20 & 21, “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but Holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

These verses simply mean that the scriptures were inspired by God not man.  Men were only the tools God used to pen down His Words.  The men God used to write His Word were guided, directed and kept from error by the Holy Spirit of God.

Today, none of the original writings are in existence, as far as we know. Does this mean that we no longer have the pure Word of God?  GOD FORBID!

David wrote in Psalm 12:6 & 7, “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.  Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, Thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever.”  This verse clearly states that God would preserve His word forever.  Even though we do not have the original manuscripts, we believe God has preserved His Word and kept it pure down through these many centuries.

The question then is where can the Word of God be found today? We believe the King James Authorized version is The Bible, The Word of God. We believe the Authorized King James to be the inerrant, (without error), infallible, (completely accurate), and Holy inspired Word of God and the only Bible.
